Norwich City Council - Property Information Point

Let NCC for prospective tenants

It is very important to Norwich City Council to work effectively with private landlords to make it easier for those in housing need[1] to access private rented accommodation.

Let NCC is a scheme that allows tenants to access private rented accommodation through Norwich City Council. We do this by leasing properties from private landlords and then renting them on to people in housing need.

Through doing this, we can manage the property on behalf of the landlord for the duration of the lease, whilst still allowing landlords to interact with tenants when dealing with repairs etc.

Let NCC has the advantage of keeping in regular contact with tenants and supporting them as best we can, similar to council housing. This may make you feel more comfortable when accepting a tenancy.

The scheme also works without a deposit and does not need rent in advance, so there is no need to worry about finding a lump sum of money prior to renting one of our homes.

The interaction with landlords also gives you the chance to sample what it would be like to live in a privately rented property that you would find and manage yourself. Through doing this you can take advantage of the positive aspects that this form of housing offers - choice, flexibility and freedom to have a home you desire at an affordable rent.

If you would like to find out whether you are eligible for the Let NCC scheme or would like more information please, please click here and choose ‘private sector leasing’ in the subject heading of the contact form. If you would like to speak to someone in person please contact your housing adviser on 0344 980 3333.

[1] You are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. You will need to speak to a housing adviser to determine if you are suitable for the scheme.
